In an updated version of the tale, “Jekyll Hyde” makes the lead character a medical student in the 21st century. Taking drugs and devolving his personality, Jekyll (Bryan Fisher) finds himself looking much the same while drugged, but with a more evil flashy style, called Hyde. With a rash of murders featuring tortured victims, Hyde seems to leave bodies all over the city. The police don’t find the killer, and society is uninvolved by the list of dead at the hands of a serial killer. As Hyde slowly takes over the control of the body of Jekyll from the weak student, there is a growing love story. Jekyll or Jay wants only to make a drug to give himself pleasure in the club scene. Indeed, he is a better sexual lover under the influence of drugs and in the person of Hyde. Though others suffer from overdoses and die, Jay increases his drug intake to allow his Hyde to win out. The result is the obligatory violent and bad end for those who look for thrills through drugs.
